Clutch and Gearbox
The clutch and gearbox work together, with the clutch connecting and disconnecting the gearbox to the engine.
The clutch disconnects the gearbox from the engine to prevent the car from stalling when you change the gear.
The gearbox is used to change the speed of the engine output, in turn controlling the speed of the car.
When to service my clutch?
If you notice you are experiencing loss in acceleration due to the clutch slipping or it is vibrating, you need to bring it in to use to be checked. We also recommend getting it checked if you are having issues when you are changing gears, your clutch is hitting the floor or if there are any unusual noises like squeaking.
Clutch servicing Process
We will inspect the clutch thoroughly to diagnose the fault and then carry out any repairs or replacements needed to allow the clutch to smoothly operate again. If you have bought in your car because your clutch is touching the floor, we will usually replace it.

Your gearbox needs checking if it is making any strange noises when you are using it, however you should give us a call before bringing it in as sometimes driving your car when the gearbox is noisy can cause more damage. If you are struggling to change gears, your gear is returning to the previous one or you smell a burning smell you should also bring your car in so we can check your gearbox.
